SUMMARY:The Future Echoes: Zine Workshop!
DESCRIPTION:Zines are\, and have been\, a historical and integral way that individuals and communities have expressed their thoughts\, motivations\, and feelings about things that directly impact them. \nRegardless of time and place\, Zines utilize artistic expression to not only get a message across but also to connect with its audience\, to find a way to bring us all together\, and to recognize ourselves in each other. \nFor this Zine Workshop\, we will be focusing on young Southern voting power amidst a chaotic year of numerous attacks on voting rights\, specifically in our Southern states. \nWhen: Sunday\, October 18\, 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM \nWhere: Camp North End\, Charlotte – Exact location provided after signup \nWho: Anyone and everyone! Zine making is not just for people who are artsy or crafty. It’s for anyone who as something to say! \nWhy: For centuries\, art has influenced culture\, societies\, and our way of understanding each other and the world. Now it’s your turn! \nJoin us to learn about how zines have been used for art advocacy\, hear about our The Future Echoes zine project\, and spend some time exploring your own ideas for a zine page. You’ll leave with inspiration you can use whenever you’re ready to start advocating using art. \nCheck out our socials for examples of what other artists have submitted!
