Dylan Rhoney currently serves as the State Organizing Coordinator and reporter for the Cardinal & Pine. Over the past year, Rhoney has led the way on Cardinal & Pine’s coverage of Hurricane Helene and its lasting impact on Western North Carolina.
Rhoney’s coverage includes a dozen articles, over 50 interviews, and several visits to communities across the region (including Mitchell County), featuring Helene survivors, community leaders, small business owners, and local elected officials.
Rhoney will be sharing some of those stories in a presentation at 6:00 p.m. in the Sam Center Auditorium of Mayland Community College in Spruce Pine, NC on October 20th. He will highlight how Western North Carolina came together in the face of tragedy, the resilience of the region’s communities, and the challenges that lie ahead to make Western NC whole again.
Dylan Rhoney is a graduate of Appalachian State University and hails from Morganton, NC. He is passionate about travel, politics, history, and all things North Carolina.
